SORRY: This picture is a little weird

PREDICTING the gender of a child has been a pastime for thousands of years.

The ancient Greeks figured males came from sperm created in the right testicle, women the left.

This led to the recommendation that a father remove his left testicle if he desired a son to carry on the family name.

Fast forward thousands of years and the nonsense continues. We are reliably told many still believe morning sex produces girls. We just wish it produced breakfast in bed afterwards.

This led to the recommendation that a father remove his left testicle if he desired a son to carry on the family name.

And on that point some scientists believe diet has an impact – well-fed women producing more males than under-nourished ones.

But science has a new theory.

Apparenly, analysis showed that mean adjusted systolic blood pressure prior to pregnancy was higher in women who eventually gave birth to a boy.

Precisely what you do with this information remains unclear.

But if you’d like to read more about maternal blood pressures and how they affect the gender of babies, then go right ahead.

GETTING TESTE: Remove that ball, Pericles.
